My Bunch of Books is a hand-bound, softcover flip book with a junior readers' sensibility.
This project was created for a book design class during my time at Columbia College Chicago. Based off author Georges Perec’s insights from his work Brief Notes on the Art and Manner of Arranging One's Books, the task was to make a library of chosen titles and to classify them beyond initial observations.
I grouped my seventeen-book library not just by famous (and foreign) children's titles, but alphabetically, by main characters, common motifs, and page count. However, I state (in perfect parentese) how I prefer to arrange my titles in a much more Perecian way: combining them to make a haiku-style poem.
This yielded such titles as Who Ate It?/The Very Hungry Caterpillar/The Apple And The Moth.

The overall brief for this project was to interpret the Perec text within a personal library of selected titles and design the final work to aesthetically represent that library. My idea and general direction for this project was to create a book with physical children’s book aesthetics with high concept content in simple terms. That content being about libraries. A book about books, explained for a toddler.
